How TagAlong Keeps Your Data Safe

When you tap your TagAlong device, something personal happens. You're sharing your name, your phone number, your email, your social links. You're trusting that the platform handling all of this treats your data the way you'd want it treated.

We take that seriously. Here's exactly how TagAlong protects your information.

What Happens When Someone Taps Your Device

A tap triggers the NFC chip in your TagAlong Card or KeyTag. The chip contains one thing: a short URL that points to your profile. It doesn't store your contacts, your photo, or any personal data on the physical device itself.

This matters. If you lose your card, nobody can extract your personal information from it. The URL leads to your profile, which you control. Deactivate the device from your dashboard, and that URL stops working immediately.

Your Profile, Your Rules

You decide what's visible on your profile. Want to show your phone number? Toggle it on. Prefer to keep it private and only share your email? Done. Every field on your profile has a visibility toggle.

TagFlex takes this further. You can create different profile configurations for different situations. Meeting a client? Show your work details. At a casual event? Show your social links. Switch between configurations instantly from your phone.

Nothing is shared that you haven't explicitly chosen to share.

Authentication and Account Security

Every TagAlong account is protected by secure authentication. We use industry-standard practices:

• Encrypted sessions that expire automatically
• Email verification for new accounts
• Secure password handling with modern hashing (your password is never stored in plain text)
• Admin access controls that separate regular users from team administrators

If you sign in through Google, we use OAuth, the same secure protocol that banks and enterprise software rely on. We never see or store your Google password.

Data Encryption

Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

In transit means when data moves between your phone and our servers. Every connection uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. The same technology that protects your online banking protects your TagAlong data.

At rest means when your data sits on our servers. Your profile information, lead capture data, and account details are stored in encrypted databases with strict access controls. Only the services that need your data to function can access it.

Lead Capture Privacy

When someone fills out a lead capture form after tapping your device, their information goes directly to your dashboard. We don't sell, share, or use captured leads for advertising. The data belongs to you.

For the person filling out the form, we keep it simple. They see exactly what information they're providing, and they submit it voluntarily. No hidden tracking. No surprise data collection.

Payment Security

TagAlong doesn't store your card details. All payments are processed through Paystack, a PCI DSS compliant payment processor trusted by thousands of Nigerian businesses. Your payment information goes directly to Paystack's secure servers and never touches ours.

For referral withdrawals to your bank account, we verify your account details before processing. Withdrawal requests go through a review step to prevent unauthorized transfers.

Teams Data Isolation

If your organization uses TagAlong Teams, your company data is isolated from other companies on the platform. Your employee roster, card designs, branding assets, and team analytics are accessible only to your company's administrator.

Team admins can add or remove employees, but individual employees still control their personal profile content. The company manages the branding and card design. You manage what contact details appear when someone taps your card.

What We Don't Do

Transparency matters, so here's what we commit to not doing:

• We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
• We don't track your location. Tapping your card doesn't send us GPS data.
• We don't read your messages. Your communications with contacts happen outside our platform.
• We don't keep data after deletion. Delete your account, and your data is removed from our systems.
• We don't use your data to train AI models. Your profile content and leads are yours alone.

Regular Security Reviews

We conduct regular security reviews of our platform. This includes testing our systems for vulnerabilities, updating dependencies, and reviewing access controls. When we find something that needs fixing, we fix it. We don't wait for it to become a problem.

We also monitor for unusual activity across the platform. If something looks off, we investigate immediately.

What You Can Do

Good security is a partnership. Here are a few things you can do on your end:

• Use a strong, unique password for your TagAlong account
• Don't share your login credentials with others
• Review your profile visibility settings periodically
• Report lost devices so we can deactivate them quickly
• Keep your email address current so we can reach you if needed
